subject of "Praying For The Nation" very challenging - and came up with the following Intercessions ...
Billy Graham's Prayer for our Nation...
Heavenly Father, we come before you today to ask your forgiveness and to seek your direction and guidance. We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and
reversed our values. We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery. We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare. We have killed our unborn and
called it choice. We have neglected to discipline our children and called it building self-esteem. We have abused power and called it politics. We have
polluted the air with profanity and called it freedom of expression. Search us o God and know our hearts today, cleanse us from every sin and set us free. Amen
Heavenly Father in this most difficult time we pray for wisdom for the Government and the Opposition Parties of the Nation. We ask Father that decisions
are made for long term benefit and not for short term popularity. We pray for the Church that at this time its leaders give spiritual and moral leadership
and speak out when they see any form of injustice. We give thanks for our Queen and for her steadfastness in her faith in you and for her devotion to duty.
Father we lift our voices to you that you would be exalted in this Nation, in Jesus name we stand against the dark powers that think they will triumph over you.
We are concerned at the lack of moral teaching in homes and schools in this Country which is leading to lack of respect for one another and for human life itself.
We are worried that Christianity is being marginalised, and the way in which our Government is giving way to extremists. We are perturbed at the falling standards of
broadcasting and that little or no notice is taken of public outcry. Nothing can stand against you o God for you are mighty to deliver your people. Amen
Turn the hearts of the people of this land that this decline will be halted and our Country turn back to you again.
Send down upon our Nation a true spirit of repentance for the sinfulness which passes as broadmindedness, me apathy
which calls itself tolerance, me materialism which glories in its prosperity and grasps for more. 0 Lord raise up new
leaders in your Church, government, industry and Commerce with faith, integrity and obedience to your laws, so that
people's lives may be transformed and integrity and godliness may characterise our people to your praise and honour,
through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
