On this page you will find the Sermon notes and Home Group notes for the current "term" in the life of BFPC - but there is also a "Downloads Archive" page which has studies from previous years. Click here to go to it !

To view a file, simply double-click on it, but to download a file, right click on the link and press "Save Target As". Find an appropriate place to put the file (!) and then copy it into your own word-processing package. The files are all in "rtf" format, which will open in your word-processing programme, or in "pdf" format, which requires the Adobe Acrobat Reader - this is usually standard on most computers and double-clicking on the file will launch it, but if you have problems, you can download it from www.adobe.com.

Programme for Autumn 2011: "Psalms - The Seasons of Life

This Autumn, we are looking at the Psalms and, in particular, the way they address the Seasons of Life. David, and the other writers of the Psalms, deal with every-day, real emotions from the awareness of God's Care and Guidance (Psalm 23) through the Suffering Soul (Psalm 31), the Persecuted (Psalm 7), the Intimacy of the Eternal God (Psalm 139), and many, many more. The danger we fall into is to all-too-quickly declare that Jesus is the answer to every situation of life, without truly engaging with the reality that each season of life brings. For the person whose life is falling apart, the statement "Jesus is the answer" simply brings a further question "yes, but how?" So our series in the coming weeks will seek to explore these issues from a point of reality as opposed to an over-simplified and rather trite response. And it leads us towards Christmas. The Incarnation tells of a Saviour born to us who experienced the seasons of life that we are talking about - poverty, elation, rejection, joy, fear and everything else. He endured and my prayer for us is that we will know the strength to endure - and wherever possible, to enjoy, every season of life.
