English Mozart Ensemble

For many years the English Mozart Ensemble has been building a reputation as one of this country's leading music groups. The founding principal of the ensemble was to perform outside of the major cities: to bring the finest quality musicianship to Britain's smaller towns. English Mozart Ensemble, in promoting this aim, perform in some of the most beautiful buildings in the world: namely the Parish Churches of England.

English Mozart Ensemble

Founded in 1997, the English Mozart Ensemble has quickly established itself as a fine chamber group with a difference. Large concert halls and characterless venues which appear remote and un-involving are avoided, instead the ensemble performs in cathedrals, churches and other elegant buildings where the listener can experience some of the world's finest music in a more traditional and intimate setting.

The musicians pride themselves on their ability to communicate at every level and build a rapport with their audience. They perform standing, often lit solely by candles, and often make a point of "narrating" the evening's works. Pre-concert talks are also held, so repertoire and aspects of performance may be discussed with the listener. The English Mozart Ensemble is strongly committed to education within local communities and is keen to provide a platform for exciting young soloists and composers to have their talents heard.
