The annual Remembrance Day service will be held in Blandford Parish Church on Sunday 8th November at 3.00pm.
|
The Service, run in conjunction with the Royal British Legion will, as in previous years, include readings and poems by members of the Armed Forces and the British Legion,
as well as prayers by uniformed organisations. The music for the service is being provided by the Stour Valley Band. As part of the growing links that the Parish has with
the Garrison Chapel, Rev David Barrett, Chaplain to Blandford Camp, will be the Preacher at the Service, which will also include a Lament played by a lone piper.
The Rector of Blandford Forum, Rev Tim Storey, said "Remembrance Day service this year comes amid heightened questions about the role of our armed forces in the world, but it is important that we put politics to one side for a moment and take the opportunity to focus on the suffering and sacrifice of so many, both in the past as well as in the present, and to pray for those who mourn them and care for the injured."
