BFPC supports Leisure Centre

Supporting the Leisure Centre

Blandford Forum Parish Church (BFPC) will be a displaying a banner throughout October in support of the campaign to save the town's Leisure Centre, which is threatened with closure in April 2010. The banner, which says "Help save Blandford Leisure Centre for your community" was produced by the Blandford Leisure Centre Action Group (BLCAG) and will move around various key locations in the town to draw attention to the campaign.

Chairman of the Leisure Centre Action Group, Steve Hitchings said "It is great that the Church is actively supporting the campaign and it further demonstrates that saving the Leisure Centre is something which involves all parts of the community."

The Rector of Blandford Forum, Rev Tim Storey, said "As a member and regular user of the Leisure Centre, I am extremely concerned that it is under the threat of closure. It would be a massive loss to people of all ages in the town - and the Church community wanted to show our support for the campaign by putting the banner where it can be seen by everyone."
