Ventilator to go back on Centre Roof

The Parish Centre

The ventilator from the Parish Rooms in Blandford forum, which were demolished earlier this year, is being returned to the roof of the new Parish Centre in a "Topping Out" ceremony taking place on the site in the Tabernacle area of the town at 11.00am on Monday 28th September.

The ventilator is a Robert Boyle "Air Pump" Ventilator which, it is believed, was installed when the "tin hut" parish rooms were built in the 1880's and the original details regarding the equipment have been tracked down on the internet at www.hevac-heritage.org/electronic_books/robert_boyle/1-introduction-1.pdf and www.hevac-heritage.org/electronic_books/robert_boyle/2-airpumpventilator.pdf

The Church has announced an opportunity for photographs by members of the Press on site in The Tabernacle area of Blandford Forum at 1100am on Monday 28th September. For health and safety reasons, those wishing to attend must contact the Parish Office on 01258-456260 or by email to office@bfpc.org.uk to register their intention.

The Rector of Blandford Forum, Rev Tim Storey, said "As a prominent feature of the old Parish Rooms, returning the Ventilator to its rightful position will be a means of continuity with the new Centre and indicate the connect with the site that stretches back 130 years."
