Blandford Churches Give Books To Schools

The Presentation of the Books

The Churches of Blandford Forum have presented a box of library books to each of the primary schools in the town at a service in the Parish Church to celebrate the start of the school year.

A set of books with Christian themes has been donated to Milldown CE VC Primary School and Archbishop Wake CE VA School in Blandford Forum by the Churches of the town. The presentation was made on behalf of the churches by the Rector of Blandford, Rev Tim Storey, at the end of the service in the Parish Church of St Peter and St Paul to celebrate the start of the new school year, where over 500 pupils of both schools were present. The books were purchased in association with a national scheme, "Speaking Volumes", which was founded by the Christian Book Promotion Trust in 1970 and has made over 150 placements in libraries in the UK and abroad over the past year. Amongst the books were children's Bibles and "The Christmas Mouse", "Five Minute Parables" and "Two Builders" as well as classics such as "Prince Caspian".

The Rector of Blandford Forum and Langton Long, Rev Tim Storey, said "Books are still an amazing way to learn and discover about all parts of life, including the questions about life and faith. It is wonderful that we have been able to give this gift and know that it will be greatly used."
