Dozens turned up at BFPC to leave their mark in the Parish Centre being built in the Tabernacle area of the town by personalising a wall tile which will be used in the Centre.
|
The tiles were decorated in association with 'Spotty Pots', from Gillingham, and the event was held in the Church from 9.30am until 12 noon on Saturday 19th September. The tiles will be sent off to be fired and are likely to be mounted in a decorative panel in the Centre kitchen. All age groups came along to the event.
The money raised from the event will go towards the appeal to raise money for the new Parish Centre, which is due to open early in 2010. With the external structure now in place, the internal work, including the mounting of the tiles is expected to be complete for a Grand Opening in the New Year. However, it is estimated that there is still a shortfall of around £35,000 to be addressed.
The Rector of Blandford Forum and Langton Long, Rev Tim Storey, said "The vision behind the Centre is that of building a place where Church and Community meet, and so we hope to have tiles on view which reflect the Town Community and the Church together."
