The hand car washing will be available in the Marsh and Ham car park from 10am until about 12.30pm on Saturday 12th, and car owners will be invited to make a donation to the appeal to raise money for the Centre in the Tabernacle area of the town, which is due to open early in 2010. NDDC have given permission for the Car Washing to take place and the Town Council have made available a water supply for the team.
The car washing is part of the "Talents" project which BFPC launched in the spring, when everyone in the congregation as given a £10 note and asked to generate money using it. The team running the car washing are using their £10 to buy materials for the work.
The Parish Centre is nearing completion, with most of the building shell in place. The internal work is expected to be complete for a Grand Opening in the New Year. However, it is estimated that there is still a shortfall of around £35,000 to be addressed.
The Rector of Blandford Forum and Langton Long, Rev Tim Storey, said "I shall be there, along with others, bucket and sponge in hand, in order to clean as many cars as we can and raise as much money as we can!"
Total Raised = £255.00
Thanks to Anthony, James, Harry, Sophie, VJ, Hannah and Jessica - and everyone who contributed!
