"Growing in Faith" - The Course

Growing in Faith - The Course

Growing in Faith is a 5 week course that looks at the idea of Faith from the idea that we all exercise faith in things and people all the time and that if we can develop the idea so that we can see how we exercise faith in God through various aspects of the Christian life, we can be encouraged in growing in our own relationship with God. The course, which has been run many times since its inception nearly 20 years ago has gradually evolved into a 5 part series which has the opportunity to explore Baptism and/or Confirmation at the end of it.

The Course

The Course consists of five evenings which gradually develop ideas through a mixture of Bible Study, Film Clips, Discussion Groups and Prayer. The evenings are open to and accessible to all ages from young people through to those of a more mature set of years. The aim is to enjoy learning together and to encourage onward learning and development in the years that follow. Confirmation or Baptism is not compulsory but may be something people are considering through the course and as an end point. A one-to-one discussion usually acts as an aid in working out what is right for each and every individual.

The end of the course brings the opportunity for those who would like to consider the idea of Baptism or Confirmation to pursue it. The usual suggestion is that they write some kind of letter to either their Church leader or the leader of the course with their reflections on the course and their reactions to it. If that seems to be towards Baptism or Confirmation, then they will be greatly encouraged to pursue the idea all the way!
