Blandford Churches Worship Together at BFPC

15th January 2012

Week of Prayer for Christian Unity 2012

The Churches of Blandford Forum are meeting together at 10.30am in Blandford Parish Church on Sunday 15th January in the annual celebration service for the Week of Prayer For Christian Unity.

Members of the congregations of the seven Churches of Blandford Forum will meet together for a celebration service in the Parish Church of St Peter and St Paul in the Market Square on Sunday 15th January, led by the leaders of the Churches. The Speaker will be Rev Gwyneth Owen, who recently became Superintendent of the local Methodist Circuit.

IThe Churches work together whenever possible, including the organisation of a youth event, a Civic Service to pray for newly elected Councillors and an annual Walk of Witness each Good Friday. As a sign that the work of the Churches is not restricted to the life of Blandford, the collection from the service on 15th will go towards the relief effort in Somalia and the Horn of Africa.

The Rector of Blandford Forum and Langton Long, Rev Tim Storey, said "It is one thing to talk about unity and it is another to actually do things which show it! By worshipping and praying together, we want to show that there is actually only one church in the town, with different branches all over it."
