After a lot of planning, talking, debating and finally "doing", the rededication of All Saints Langton Long took place on Sunday 10th January 2010 with the
Bishop of Sherborne, Rt Rev Graham Kings being the first episcopal visitor for many a long year! |
The Service ...
This was the prayer of rededication used by the Bishop and below are photos from the day:
Almighty God, our loving Heavenly Father, in dedicating this church to you,
we both set it apart for sacred purposes and let go of it, placing it on your altar for you to use as you see fit.
Now and down through the years, when all those present this day are gone, make this a church where people
learn to love you with all their hearts, minds, and souls.
Make this a place where people learn to love their neighbours as themselves, and show us ways that we can use this building
to meet the needs of people within this community and the larger world.
Fill this place with your Holy Spirit, that no one may enter these walls without recognising your hand upon all that happens within them.
Make this church, as a people, one that remains faithful to your Word and to the Vision you have set before us
to Build a Joyful Fellowship of Healing and Wholeness.
Day by day may we strive to discover and nurture relationships in Jesus Christ that, together, we may build your Kingdom in this place, to your Glory.
As we dedicate this building to you, we pledge ourselves to live out the Gospel in this place, following our Saviour Jesus,
and inspired by the Holy Spirit and our prayer for those who follow us down through the years is that they would stay faithful to you in word and in sacrament,
to the glory of your name. These things we pray in the name of Jesus our Saviour. Amen.
And the Road to Get to It ...
The road to the opening of the Church was along one and the work lasted nearly 5 months ...
Thanks to everyone who helped make this such a wonderful day!
Thanks to Barbara Ward for the pics
