What a weekend! After all the traumas of making it happen, we finally got all the way to The Blandford School and had a tremendous time of teaching and worship, food and time together. Martin Cavender was an
awesome speaker and took us "Going Deeper" with talks on the Love of God The Father, the Word and Spirit, the Name of Jesus and a time encouraging us to be sent out to actually do something for God. The
young people had an awesome time with a group of leaders from Shirley in Southampton and had their own worship, video, games and discussion.
Then there was Saturday afternoon... taking time out from weekend people went out in ten teams around the town. Several teams went litter picking around the School,
Stour Meadows and other parts of town, a group tidied up the garden of an elderly resident and another group helped with practical work around the house of a single-parent
who had just moved in with four small children. A group visited a retirement home and played CDs of favourite music to the residents, whilst a team spent the afternoon in
the Market Square handing out gifts and offering help in whatever way they could. The aim of this “Love in Action” was to give something to the life of the community of the
town and show that the Christian faith is about practical action rather than simply words. Several residents enquired as to the reason for the work and offered support and help.
The weekend came to a climax with a Communion Service for everyone, followed by Sunday lunch (an awesome roast!) and some hearty "Thank You"s ... and lots of ZZZzzzzzz!!
