The African Children's Choir @ BFPC

31st October and 1st November 2008

A night of vibrant colour, joyful song and exuberant dance ... it brought out the poet in all of us! The African Children's Choir, consisting of 25 children from South Africa, many orphaned as a result of AIDS, sang and danced their way back into our hearts with a mix of songs, including ones we know so well "Lord I Lift Your Name on High", "Here I Am To Worship" and "This Little Light of Mine", as well as some glorious African rhythms (although one lady did ask the sound man if he could turn the drums down!). They shared their hopes of what they wanted to do in life and we watched a film showing how, over 22 years, the children of choirs in the past are now living out their dreams, as a result of the support they have had in the choir. We took up a collection and many will benefit at home from these concerts they gave on a cold night in a far corner of a country far away!

Thank you to everyone who made the nights possoible - the organisers, the hosts, the sound and vision people, the ushers - you know who you are!
