The World Cup Comes to Blandford


England on the Big Screen !



BFPC has been showing England's matches in the 2006 World Cup on the big screen in church, beginning with the match against Paraguay on Saturday 10th June. You can see the photos of this match here. The press have got interested,too, and we have had a mention in the Guardian Newspaper on 23rd June (read it here). The Sunday Times have also been making enquiries ...

The matches are being shown in their entirety and the match on June 10th was preceded by a free Barbecue on the grass outside church and a stall selling England memorabilia with a proportion of the proceeds being donated to the Church. An organist played a selection of appropriate music before the match including the theme from "The Great Escape"... to the joy of some and the "joy" of others .... !
We are aiming to provide a venue where people can watch the match in a smoke free and safe family atmosphere. Light refreshments will be offered and the church will reserve the right of entry. As with the previous tournament in 2004, no alcohol or bad language will be permitted in a venue where watching the match will be safe and fun for everyone!
